Stitó:s Lá:lém totí:lt, the Chilliwack School District's new elementary/middle school, will open in September 2022. The new school includes 930 student spaces in grades K-8. The school is located on Tyson Road near the Vedder River, and will be surrounded by nature, park space and trails, with the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve nearby.

We want your feedback on the neighbourhood boundaries that will determine the school catchment area.

We are looking for feedback on the boundary option presented in our Boundary Review & Feeder School Relationships document.

Highlights:

  • Students at Watson Elementary will continue to have the choice to attend Mount Slesse Middle or Vedder Middle.
  • To balance enrollment at middle schools, Promontory Elementary, Greendale Elementary and Yarrow Elementary grade 5 students will transition into Stitó:s Elementary/Middle in grade 6.
  • Students from Stitó:s Elementary (k-5) and students who transitioned to Stitó:s Lá:lém totí:lt Middle from Promontory at grade 6 will transition to G.W. Graham Secondary at grade 9.
  • Students from Greendale and Yarrow who transitioned to Stitó:s in grade 6 will transition to Sardis Secondary at grade 9.
  • The new Stitó:s Elementary/Middle School boundary will change the existing boundaries at Unsworth Elementary, Vedder Elementary and Watson Elementary.

My children go to Promontory and I am very happy with this plan.

I agree with previous comments. Cultus Lake Community School should be added to the catchment.

This sounds wonderful!

Agreed with below. We would prefer Cultus Elementary going to the new school as well in Grade 6.

What about Cultus Lake? It seems it would make sense for the kids to go there for grade 6. That is the closest school to us.

My kids are being forced out of promontory elementary because of overcapacity and we have moved to promontory road, just below teskey. I'm curious if they will be considered promontory catchment for the new school for grade 6? Or will they have to go to mount slesse? They were looking forward to meeting up with their friends in grade 6 at msms but now it looks like they won't meet up again until grade 9 and we live closer to the school than we did before. I feel like this should include promontory road kids that have to go to Vedder.

We live along the river to the west, just outside the boundary. I wish Keith Wilson could be the line. We live much closer to the new school than unsworth. The corner of Webster and Keith Wilson is dangerous for kids, I would love to use the trail to walk my kids to school instead.

I like the idea of having the choice of Stitó:s Lá:lém totí:lt or Unsworth as we are closer to Stitó:s Lá:lém totí:lt but are currently under unsworth. Anything east of Chinook street should be going to Stitó:s Lá:lém totí:lt Elementary.

It's not fair that the kids that live right next door don't get to attend this at middle school level. My daughter, currently attends Unsworth and will be entering gr 6 when this school opens. She'll have to go to MSMS, when this school is a 2 min walk away...... Kids that go to Unsworth should get to choose, just like the Watson kids get too....
